6 Ways To Facilitate Your Re-Entry On A TN Visa After International Travel
Earlier I wrote about how TN visa workers were facing issues when re-entering the U.S. after international travel. Some USCBP officers at US international airports are not familiar with the TN visa classification. They may ask for more documentation than required such as an I-797 approval notice, which not all TN visa workers may have, or raise other issues.
Here are 6 ways to help ensure your re-entry to the U.S. under your TN visa when returning from international travel:
If you are a citizen of Mexico, make sure you have an unexpired TN visa stamp in your passport (ideally in the name of your current TN employer).
Have a copy of your printed TN I-94 record from USCBP’s website (or a hard copy of your I-797 TN approval notice, if you obtained your TN status through USCIS).
Have a copy of the TN Employer Support Letter used to obtain your TN visa status (present only if needed).
Have copies of your recent paystubs to prove you have been maintaining your TN visa status (present only if needed).
If it has been a significant amount of time since your last entry, have a fresh letter from your TN employer confirming your employment pursuant to same terms as your initial TN application.
Print out my article that explains why TN visa workers may not have an I-797 TN approval notice to present to USCBP, if needed.
