US Embassy In Mexico City Revises TN Visa Application Process
On Sept. 5, 2026, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City announced in a social media post that individuals filing DS-160 applications for TN visas at the Embassy must email their employer support letter in advance and prior to their interview.
According to the Embassy instructions, applicants must:
Email their TN visa employer support letter to the Embassy after completing their biometrics appointment at CAS.
The email address to use is: MexicoCityNIVemploymentletter@state.gov
Applicants should not leave their original documents at CAS.
The TN visa employer support letter must be in PDF format and not exceed 2MB. Other formats (images, photos, Word) are not accepted.
In the email subject line, applicants should include the following without any punctuation:
VISA TYPE
FIRST NAME
LAST NAME
PASSPORT NUMBER.
Example: TN JUAN PEREZ G123456789.
At this time, this process appears only to apply to TN visa DS-160 applications filed at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, and NOT at other consular posts.
