Can I look for a job while I'm on a TN Visa?

Question: I am currently working in the US under valid TN Visa status. Can I lawfully look for a job while I'm in the US on my TN?

Reply: Yes! There's no prohibition against merely looking for a new employer while you're in the US on a existing TN. This is fine as long as:

1. You are maintaining your current TN, which generally means you are still working for that employer pursuant to the terms outlined in your TN application;

2. You are not doing any work in the US besides that TN authorized employment;

3. And you do not start working for any new employer until you file for and obtain a new TN work permit for that employer.
